Saturday, February 21, 2026 to Saturday, February 21, 2026
1:00PM

Location: Bitz Opera Factory, Strip District

Meet the creators of Pittsburgh Opera's upcoming world premiere Time to Act in a fun, informal setting, hosted by the FRIENDS of Pittsburgh Opera.

Hear firsthand how they've teamed up to create a gripping new opera about a group of high school students preparing for a production of Antigone who are joined by a new student with a formidable secret.

Spilling the tea will be:

  • Composer Laura Kaminsky, whose acclaimed opera As One has become the most-produced modern opera in America.
  • Librettist Crystal Manich, the Emmy Award nominee whose works for stage, film, and circus have been seen across the United States, Europe, Argentina, and Australia.
  • Conductor Michael Sakir, the Artistic Director of Opera Montana since 2020, and formerly the Music Director of Opera Memphis, who has been praised for his "artistic authority," "fluidity of expression," and "great delicacy of feeling."

This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested.
