12:30 PM

Location: WQED-FM

Hosted by WQED’s Anna Singer, these half-hour previews of each upcoming opera are broadcast twice before each production opens, giving listeners an in-depth introduction to the opera’s singers, music, and production.

Time to Act is a world premiere production composed by Laura Kaminsky, whose acclaimed opera As One has become the most-produced modern opera in America. Emmy Award nominee Crystal Manich, the librettist, is a Pittsburgh Opera mainstay whose works for stage, film, and circus have been seen across the United States, Europe, Argentina, and Australia.

Learn more about this innovative, new production on the WQED-FM Time to Act Preview on Saturday, February 21 at 12:30 PM. Between clips from the score, Anna Singer interviews maestro Michael Sakir, stage director and librettist Crystal Manich, mezzo-soprano Timothi Williams, and Resident Artist Shannon Crowley to get the behind-the-scenes peek into the making of this production.
