Madeline Ehlinger is a second-year Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist in 2021-22. Her roles this season included First Lady in The Magic Flute, The Elf in The Rose Elf, and Young Woman/Old Woman in In A Grove.
In the 2020-21 season, she played Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Ino in Semele, and Doris Parker in Charlie Parker's Yardbird, all with Pittsburgh Opera.
Madeline graduated from the Yale School of Music in 2020. In her time in the Yale Opera Studio, Madeline performed the roles of Tatiana in Eugene Onegin, Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Florencia in Florencia en el Amazonas. She also sang the leading role of Peter in the workshop of the new opera The Snowy Day in a collaboration with the Houston Grand Opera.
In 2019, Madeline joined Central City Opera as a Studio Artist in the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program. She was awarded their Young Artist Award of the 2019 season and will return to Central City Opera as an Apprentice Artist in the 2021 season, singing the roles of Il Paggio in Rigoletto and First Witch in Dido and Aeneas.
Madeline won an Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and received the Phyllis Curtin Career Entry Prize from the Yale School of Music, given to a graduating voice student who demonstrates promise for a professional career. She received her B.M. in Voice Performance from DePaul University, where her roles included Poppea in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Flora in The Turn of the Screw, and Rose Maurrant in Street Scene.
