Ayanna Delk-Lewis is a first-year Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist in 2026-27. This season, she will sing Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto, Armindo in Partenope, and Lady Macbeth in Working for the MacBeths.
Soprano Ayanna Delk-Lewis recently received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Houston Moores School of Music. There she performed as Sadie in Carlisle Floyd’s Slow Dusk, the titular role in Suor Angelica, and Alma March in Little Women. She previously covered Micaëla in Carmen with Wolf Trap Opera and returned to Wolf Trap this past summer to cover the title role in Tosca.
She is an Encouragement Award recipient from the Metropolitan Laffont Competition and was a semifinalist for the Houston Grand Opera Butler Studio Competition. A native of California and a music educator, Ms. Delk-Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Teacher Certification from California State University, Fullerton. From 2022–2024 she taught musical theater and led choral activities (elementary and middle school) in the Irvine Unified School District in California. In Houston, she served as the assistant choir director of the Houston Children’s Chorus.
