Pittsburgh Opera is proud to announce that Richard LeBeau has joined its Board of Directors.
Originally from Louisville, KY, Mr. LeBeau moved to Pittsburgh with his partner, Dr. Michael White in 1987. He soon joined the Mendelssohn Choir, becoming a member of the professional core under the direction of the late Robert Page.
Mr. LeBeau sang as a chorister in more than 70 Pittsburgh Opera productions over a span of 20 seasons, beginning with the 1988 production of Aida, directed by Tito Capobianco.
An amateur harpist, Mr. LeBeau is former President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Harp Society.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Richard is an avid dog fancier and American Kennel Club Judge. He has penned numerous internationally-published articles on the history of his favorite breed, the English Toy Spaniel, which he has raised and exhibited since 1989. Richard is the author of Count Noble: The Greatest Dog That Ever Lived, which is currently in its fifth printing. He has traveled to Great Britain, Australia, and Japan to attend or judge dog shows.
Richard remains a Pittsburgh Steeler fan in honor of his father, retired Steelers Defensive Coordinator and Pro Football Hall of Fame Member, Dick LeBeau.
“We are excited to welcome Richard to the Board,” says Dr. Don Fischer, Pittsburgh Opera Board President. “His passion for vocal and instrumental music will provide a vibrant addition to our Board.”
