Matthew Soibelman Headshot

Matthew Soibelman is a first-year Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist in 2024-25. This season, his roles include Sciarrone/Jailer in Tosca, and Idreno in Armida, Inspector in Woman with Eyes Closed

Matthew is a Bass from Los Angeles, California. In 2012, he began his vocal training with his first teacher, Reid Bruton.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from California State University-Northridge under the tutelage of David Sannerud, he went on to obtain his Graduate Diploma from The Juilliard School, studying under Darrell Babidge.

His most recent engagements include the Fifth Jew (Strauss’ Salome) in his mainstage debut as a 2024 Apprentice 

Artist at Des Moines Metro Opera, the Sacristan (Puccini’s Tosca) and the Colonel (Redler’s The Falling and the Rising) as a 2023 Young Artist with Opera Memphis, the Herald (Wagner’s Lohengrin) with Utah Festival Opera, and the Commendatore (Mozart’s Don Giovanni) in SAT’s collaborative production with Teatro Grattacielo.
